The Executive of Netflix Gets Fired For Constant Use of Racial Slur In The Presence of Colleagues

The CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings said that the top spokesman of the company has been fired by him due to his use of N-word. He had sent an email to employees informing them about the fact that Jonathan Friedland was ousted due to his racial awareness and sensitivity, which were unacceptably low.

Jonathan Friedland, the spokesman has even confirmed through his tweets that he was leaving the organization and accepted the fact that he was insensitive while speaking to his team about certain words that generally offend in comedy.

He went on to say that he believed leaders ought to have more than just a reproach in the example they set for others in every aspect but unfortunately, he had fallen short of the standard and rather sounded rather insensitive with his team. The fact that he was feeling awful about whatever happened and the kind of distress it had caused everyone at Netflix, where he would ideally want everyone to feel a part of the team and appreciated.

The memo sent by Reed Hastings to employees, which got published by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, said that Friedland had uttered the word twice, first while he was in a public relations staff meeting a few months ago. Hastings had even written how a number of people told Friedland that his words were inappropriate and hurtful in nature.

The second time the spokesman had used the word of racism, was when Friedland, a white, was looking to address the original incident to his human resources staff.

The CEO viewed this second incident as a deep lack of understanding on the part of the spokesman to repeat the same word once again in front of his fellow colleagues.

Jonathan Friedland used to take care of the media and content publicity for the original series, special streaming, and films on Netflix around the world.

He had held a post in Walt Disney Ltd’s, that of a senior vice-president of corporate communications and also of a former foreign correspondent and editor for Far Eastern Economic Review and The Wall Street Journal.
